Ganesh Prasad Mishra is the only son of the illustrious late Mahadev Mishra, revered for both his dhrupad singing and his renditions of thumri and the other semi-classical genres which are the specialties of Banaras (Varanasi). Ganesh Prasad's son Shubh (2006) is learning in the informal but intensive way typical of young children in hereditary musical families.
