November, 2015: Lucy Durán’s film The Voice of Tradition wins the AHRC Anniversary Award for Best AHRC/AHRB-funded film since 1998. "The winners of the AHRC’s 10th Anniversary, Research In Film awards have been announced by writer and broadcaster Danny Leigh this evening. The prize includes £2000 for future film making activities. The event was attended by film critics, industry experts and senior academics". The judges commentd: A very assured piece of work, engaging, entertaining and interesting from start to finish.

"The films have been judged, to great acclaim, by a panel of industry and academic experts including film director Beeban Kidron; Financial Times Arts Editor, Jan Dalley; and actor and producer, Diana Quick. The event was attended by film critics, industry experts and senior academics. The awards attracted nearly 200 entries including, animations, reconstructions and enactments, installations and gallery pieces, music videos, documentaries, as well as co-produced work including collaborations with community groups."

November 15, 2014: Nicolas Magriel gave a talk Growing into Music in the Sufi Qawwal tradition of North India at the SOAS, University of London ethnomusicology research seminar and showed his film Dekhiye, Sikhiye, Parakhiye (Watch, Learn and Understand)Islamic mysticism and musical enculturation

October 8-12, 2014: Growing into Music in Azerbaijan was shown at the 2014 ICCN ((The Inter-City Intangible Cultural Cooperation Network) General Assembly/ Women' Forum held in Isfahan, Iran. 

May 10, 2014: As part of a festival entitled Trans(e)mission: Les passeurs de musique hosted by the Ethnomusicology workshops (Ateliers d'Ethnomusicologie), there was a screening of Growing into music – children learning music in North India, Azerbaijan, Mali, Cuba and Venezuela. This was followed by a Round table with speakers Lucy Durán, Erik Marchand and Laurent Aubert.  Cité Bleue (46, avenue de Miremont, Geneva.

Feb 17-March 4, 2014: Lucy Durán visited four universities in the USA, together with Trio Da Kali from Mali, as a tour sponsored by the Aga Khan Music Initiative. Durán is their project advisor in Mali. All three members of the Trio are featured in the Growing into Music in Mali films. The musical director of the Trio, Lassana Diabate, was Durán’s advisor on the films. The tour featured a new collaboration between the Kronos Quartet and Trio Da Kali, which will debut at Clarise Smith Performing Arts Centre on February 22, 2014. Trio Da Kali and Durán also have artist residencies at Wesleyan University, University of Maryland, Brandeis University, and Carleton College, Minnesota, at which there will be numerous screenings of Growing into Music in Mali films. December 2013: Morgan Davies conducted several showings of Nicolas Magriel's film Manganiyar Childhood in villages in Rajasthan and presented copies of the DVD of the film to all the main participants. 

Dec 2013: Baku, Azerbaijan. At a meeting of the UNESCO Intangible Heritage intergovernmental committee, all the delegates were presented with DVD copies of the Growing into Music in Azerbaijan film. Final editing of the film, by  Sanubar Baghirova and Michele Banal, was made possible with a generous grant from the Azerbaijani Ministry of Culture.

November 26, 2013: Nicolas Magriel gave a talk on growing into music at the Institute of Education, University of London—illustrated by excerpts from his films Mangabiyar Childhood, Talim aur Riyaz: Ravi Shankar Mishra and his Sons and Talim aur Riyaz: Pundalik Bhagwat and his Sons.

November 26, 2013: John Bird Lecture series, School of Music, Cardiff University, Wales, UK. Geoff Baker and Lucy Durán presented a screening of Growing into Music films Kevin Dedeu (Cuba) and Do farala a kan: something has been added (Mali). 

November 11, 2013: Amsterdam, Netherlands:  Nicolas Magriel screened his film  Manganiyar Childhood at the University of Amsterdam, Department of Musicology and lectured on musical enculturation in Rajasthan comparing it with musical enculturation in the realm of Indian classical music, also showing excerpts from his films on Hindustani music.

June 6, 2013: Lucy Durán presented excerpts from the first of her two Growing into Music in Mali films,  Da Kali: the pledge to the art of the griots, to the Music Special interest Group at London's Institute of Education. 

May 30th, 2013: Debut screening of Da Kali: the pledge to the art of the griot, one of two films shown in the Mali in Transition international conference, Khalili Theatre, SOAS, Russell Square campus. Followed by Q&A with Michele Banal. 

May 24, 2013: Nicolas Magriel presented "Jajmani: Patronage in Rajasthani Manganiyar music", screening the chapter on the subject of patronage from his film Manganiyar Childhood and talking about patronage and livlihood in Rajasthani and Hindustani music. At "Labour, Livelihood and Culture: Crafts and Music in the Middle East, South and Central Asia:, a one-day conference organised by the Middle East, South and Central Asia Forum (MESCAF), Institute of Musical Research, at Senate House, University of London.

May 5, 2013: Lucy Durán's first radio broadcast from Azerbaijan for the BBC Radio 3's World Routes Academy 2013, in which a partnership between SOAS, Radio 3 and Growing into Music was announced. December 4 and December 12, 2012: Geoff Baker's film Creciendo dentro de la música - En la sangre, en la casa, en la escuela, en la calle was shown at the Havana International Film Festival

September 25, 2012: Nicolas Magriel invited by the Arts and Humanities Research Council to present his Growing into Music research at "Jalsa: Celebrating UK-India Arts and Humanities Research". an AHRC showcase event at the British High Commissioner's residence, New Delhi at which Nicolas also gave a sarangi recital accompanied by one of his collaborators, 8-year-old Pushkar Bhagwat from Varanasi on tabla

Jan 5-6, 2012: In connection with the follow-on project "Mali-Cuba: music across generations" , at the National Museum of Mali in Bamako:  a concert featuring 30 Malian children from most of the participant families in Growing into Music, in front of an audience of several hundred people, and also screenings of films by Geoff Baker on Cuba and Lucy Durán on Mali, at both the National Museum and at the Conservatoire des Arts "Balla Fasseke Kouyate". December 6, 2011: Geoff Baker premiered his film Matanzas: Creciendo dentro de la música at the Festival Internacional del Nuevo Cine Latinamericano de La Habana in the 'Hecho en Cuba' (Made in Cuba) section.

November 20, 2011: Nicolas Magriel showed his film Growing into Music in Hamira, Rajasthan at a meeting of colleagues from the Chiron Association of Body Psychotherapists.

October 29, 2011: Lucy Durán:  Sumu - the culture of wedding parties in Mali" was shown at the French Institute in Bamako as part of the 'Colloque "revisiting the history of modern music in Mali: a return to the sources" '.

September 2011: Lucy Durán: a film entitled Sumu - the culture of wedding parties in Mali was shown at the Museum of Bamako, Mali.

August 2011: Nicolas Magriel showed various films from the project at the Manganiyar Log Git Sansthan in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan.

May 17- May 25, 2011: Lucy Durán: Sumu - wedding music in Mali, some edits of her contextual footage for "Growing into music" films— featuring adult musicians performing at wedding parties in Bamako - were featured in the exhibition "Bamako & London: a collaborative exhibition of exchanges" curated by Sophie Mew at the October Gallery, London.
