Kevin Dedeu is the son of Amado Dedeu, director of the leading rumba group Clave y Guaguancó and the project El Solar de los Seis. When I first filmed Kevin in 2010, he was four, and he already appeared in public with Clave y Guaguancó. There is mobile phone footage of him playing percussion competently at the age of two. By five he had many of the mannerisms of an adult drummer, and at six he was a prize-winner at the prestigious Festival del Tambor. The phrase “virtuoso character” was invented for him.
Kevin Dedeu es el hijo de Amado Dedeu, director del grupo destacado de rumba Clave y Guaguancó y del proyecto El Solar de los Seis. Cuando por primera vez filmé a Kevin en 2010, el tenía 4 años, y ya para entonces se presentaba en público con Clave y Guaguancó. Existen tomas de Kevin tocando percusión competentemente a los 2 años. A los 5 ya tenía muchas de las peculiaridades de un tamborero adulto, y a los 6 ganó un premio en el prestigioso Festival del Tambor. La frase “personalidad virtuosa” fue inventado para él.
