Santosh Mishra is at present the most successful sarangi player in Varanasi. His father Bhagwan Das Mishra and uncle Narayan Das Mishra were important musicians of the Banaras gharana. His sons Sandeep and Sangeet are now both in their twenties and working as sarangi players in Mumbai. I first filmed him teaching his sons in 1994 to 1996. For this project, I worked with him mainly teaching his nephew Ankat (2002) and his student Rudraksha (1989).
